The bits of Palma worth seeing are all inside the city belt, the 'Caso Antiguo'. Worth visiting is 'El Parque del Mar' together with the Cathedral. Going into the cathedral Is like 8€ per person. That thing is impressive on the inside. A walk through Paseo del mar is always good.
Cala Formentor is in northern Mallorca, so after visiting this beach you could then drive up to Cap de Pera Lighthouse to see the sunset.
